DETROIT (WJBK) -

Last Sunday at Weiss Playlot in southwest Detroit, a group of family and friends were enjoying a wonderful evening.

"I decided it was getting too cold outside," Tiffany Garcia said.

So they packed up and left the park, but as soon as they were walking, one of the little girls saw something really big running right behind them.

"I just heard her say, 'There's three dogs running,'" Garcia explained. "We're all running. I fell by the tree."

"Three dogs attacked me. They ripped my skin open."

"It was not gushing blood, but it was a lot of blood."

Garcia said she was bitten several times before finally being able to free herself from her attackers.

"911, I called them," Garcia said. "They never showed up."

"It's kind of sad that they don't show up," she added. "They don't care."

A few hours later, however, police and EMS crews did showed up to the scene and then to Oakwood Hospital where Garcia was getting her first round of rabies shots to protect herself from vicious dogs that neighbors told us have gotten lose and bitten before.

The owner stopped by Tuesday to see how much damage his dogs had allegedly done.

"I really feel bad," said Stanley Zepeda. "I don't know what happened."

"I need to protect my property and my family, too, because over here it's really dangerous."

"I just want to say I'm so sorry, and whatever I got to do, I'm going to do for you."

Garcia and her family were told Animal Control was going to come investigate to determine the fate of the dogs and their master, but they are still waiting. One family member said the dogs "need to be put down."

We were told the three dogs are German shepherd mixes. Meanwhile, Detroit police said they are aware of the situation. Animal Control will be out to investigate and dig a little deeper looking into some complaints from the past.

The owner said he will do a better job securing his animals so they do not get out and attack anyone else again.
