Chicago's Most Wanted: Kenneth Blackman

Chicago's Most Wanted: Kenneth Blackman

Posted: Updated:

Early this month, 18 alleged members and associates of the Black Disciples street gang were charged in a federal criminal complaint on drug and gun trafficking violations, which are said to have occurred primarily in the Altgeld Gardens area on Chicago's south side.

17 of those charged were taken into custody during an early morning raid back on April 4th. However one individual, 29-year-old Kenneth Blackman disappeared before the takedown took place. As a result, the FBI is engaged in a manhunt to track and apprehend Blackman.

Blackman is charged with one count of Felony in Possession of a Firearm. The FBI says its investigation showed that in December 2012 Blackman sold a 40-caliber Beretta, semi-automatic pistol, and other weapons, to his older brother Walter, who was also charged and arrested during the takedown.

The case is part of a long-term coordinated effort by the FBI, the Chicago Police and other law enforcement agencies to identify and dismantle highly organized drug trafficking operations associated with gangs around the city. This investigation resulted in the seizure of significant amounts of cocaine and heroin, as well as nearly 40 firearms, which gang members are said to have used to control their turf and terrorize neighborhoods.

FBI agents always consider the possibility that a felon on the run may have left the immediate area. But in this case, with Blackman's many ties to Chicago's south side, as well as to Northwest Indiana, it's quite possible Blackman is still close to home, so agents are asking for the public's help in locating him.

Here now is the FBI's description of Ken Blackman:

--Black male, 29 years old.

--6' 0'' tall, about 300 pounds.

--Black hair, brown eyes

--A number of tattoos. On his left arm he has the name "Deloris", the number "1142" and the state of Illinois. On his right arm is tattoo of a jack-in-the box.

Kenneth Blackman is considered armed and dangerous, if you see him you are asked to call police.
